Hair Donation Time!!!!

Sometimes I just start anxious- like I REALLY want my hair short again. I know my hair is thin- and fine- and awful. It's really soft and although my hair is awful, there is one thing I have that others don't... it grows! And so I continue to grow it out and donate it~ for kids like Cassie with Alopecia. Or kids like Panda~ who have cancer. My hair goes to Children with Hairloss which is an AMAZING organization (I know because my friend got her daughter's wig there) and they don't charge for their wigs. You need at least 8 inches to donate, but I had ten! I made my appointment with Diane (like I do about every two years) and she chopped it off- painted it all over dark and gave a few fun light streaks too. I LOVE IT!!!! I need to take a picture in better light but it was dark out when I got out of the salon. Feels so good to have "my" hair back. It'll be weird not running in a pony but tomorrow starts day one of growing it out for...

Al's Hair Donation

I've been bugging Ali to cut her hair for a LONG time.  When she was little she had the most adorable little bob~ but then again... she's not so little anymore. She wears her hair long mostly because she has to put it in a bun for dance. The last time I donated my hair I donated 11 inches and you only need 8.  Her hair was much longer than mine was so I knew she could donate 8 inches and still have plenty for a bun. Still when they cut it off I was worried because it looked so much shorter.  It looked SOOO much healthier though and she said she really liked it. The first thing she did when she got home was put it up in a bun and sure enough... it worked! Her hair looks so much healthier and thicker now than it did before!  I'm so proud of her and pretty sure she'll be donating again! I recently gave blood again and I feel like between giving blood and donating my hair I'm able to do a little something for someone that could make a big differen...

Donating Time!

Felt soooo good to finally get my hair cut again and be able to donate it! I still can't believe I had over a foot! Before and after pictures are below. I love my hair short but donating feels so good, I'll be growing it out again for sure!

12 Inches!

I don't know when it started... Perhaps me being too cheap to color my hair, then too cheap to cut it... Perhaps the ease or throwing it in a pony or that Jeff liked it... For whatever the reason, I let my locks grow.  Usually I am a girl who prefers short hair, but after my hair got longer than it's 'usual' I decided to let it grow and then do something with it. So many in Jeff's family have had cancer (his dad, mom, sister-in-law).  My dad recently was treated for Prostate Cancer (though he had radiation without chemo). Then there is my friend whose sweet baby was just diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and another friend whose daughter was diagnosed with alopecia (a condition where someone loses their hair).  I have never liked my hair.  In fact, if I could change one thing about myself, it would be my hair... but looking around me, I realized that I needed to be thankful for what I have.  I am blessed and it was time to share that blessing. ...
