Goodbye Summer!

Image
What a summer it was but now we must say farewell! I love starting school a bit before labor day- helps "ease in" to the school year. We had nice weather so joined the Drapals for a last boat ride (well maybe not LAST- but last of summer).  The cousins all had fun and of course so did the human kids and adults! It's so fun to watch the boys play and run and swim. I think their favorite place to be is the lake- I've said it before but Nana and Papa's is "Dog Heaven" to our fur babies!  Captain Zach decided to stop the boat mid-ride so they could take a little cool-off dip. We are so lucky to have these experiences and memories! Thanks for the memories summer of 2019!

Farewell Summer (Labor Day Weekend)

Do you see the turtle? And just like that another summer has come to an end! It was such an amazing summer. Al and I took her (last) dance trip out of state. Joe had band camps. We got to see a great show (Wicked). I got in lots of runs. We had a visit from the Canadians, a fun trip north with Grandma and a great escape up north~ Not to mention countless memories on the lake! (Boy that was a horrible sentence...). It seemed only fitting that we would close out summer at the lake on the lake. I have been a horrible picture-taker lately but I did snap a few on our last couple boat rides of the summer. The younger Drapals were able to come to the lake and we had fun sipping drinks and soaking in the wonderful sun! Maddy and TZ's cousin and his dog came to the lake too. Sadly there was a fire in their house but thankfully everyone was OK. The dog (especially) loved the lake as much as his cousins do! Hopefully it was good medicine for all. Jeff was going to hit a coupl...

Labor Day

Sean woke me up on Labor Day and gave me a card. It said, "Happy Labor Day!" "No work for you, mom!" It was great! On the back I thought there was a butterfly but he pointed out that it was a moth... "See, there's a moon, mom! Butterflies come out during the day!" (Of course they do...) We toasted the end of summer in our favorite summer place~ the lake! Jack and Collette came too. We were sad that Erin and the kids couldn't make it but sometimes life is tough. Life on the boat is anything but tough and we loved just being on the lake and sucking in the last of summer. As much time as we spent at the lake (a lot), we didn't go on many pontoon rides. I always enjoy it though. I don't take for granted how lucky we are to have such opportunities! Of course Marty joined us too. I don't think anyone likes summer as much as Marty does! At least no one loves the lake as much as Marty does. Don't worry, Marty! Sum...

Labor Day Fun!

Labor Day brought beautiful weather. We decided to spend it doing one of Jeff's favorite pastimes~ Disc Golf! We piled in the car (with Marty) and were on our way.  I had never been before. It's basically throwing frisbees. I wasn't the best but I had fun. There are different discs just like there are different clubs for golf.  Some are for driving... some for putting... etc. Jeff has lots. Marty was great. We took him off leash and he did really well. I know he loved being out there with us too. He even did a good job finding discs that we couldn't find. Too bad dogs aren't allowed on the real golf course! I laughed when we found a beer tree! Clearly these courses are for the laid back people. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a tree that REALLY grew beer! We also saw a big and very cool praying mantis. We only did nine holes (it took a while with all six of us) and then we were off to Jodi's for a party an then to the lake to see family (...
