"Becoming" with the Millers!

When Sarah texted me, "I know this is a LONG SHOT but any chance you and Jeffy could come see Michelle Obama tomorrow night in Detroit at 8??? I have two extra $50 tickets?" I knew we would MAKE it happen (and we did!!). It's a bit easier now that we have kids that are older, but it did feel weird going down there. I was so excited but I have to admit with all the crazy people out there, I did have these awful thoughts of guns and things going through my head. I felt better once we got there and saw the security! It was SO amazing and Jeff loved it too! (I wondered if a "talk" would hold his attention, but it did!)  Here were the take-away notes I wrote as we listened to her: ~Understand each other in our context ~It's harder to hate up close ~Be proud of your journey ~Little cuts (she referenced those little cuts we feel...) ~Build up a community that is nurturing, a community you can rest into. ~Sometimes you don't need to blend in. LES MIS!!!!! WOW!!!!

Image
It's our tradition to do a selfie- but usually it's at Tigers' Games! When Sarah texted me asking if she could take me to Les Mis, I thought I was dreaming! PINCH ME!!! Les Mis is my favorite and Sarah is one of my favorites too, so it was a no-brainer! YES!!!! I picked her up after work and we headed to the D. We went to dinner at Batch Brewing Co. which was a cool place but the company was even better! It was so good catching up!  With Sarah and I, we can go a while without talking but when we get together it's as if no time has passed. We have a sisterhood like that! The show was at the Fisher and while I know I have been there before, I couldn't remember the last time. I missed a street a couple times on our way there (BWAHAHA) but we made it and hit the insanely long women's line before grabbing our seats. I laughed. I cried. I had chills. and all that other stuff that happens when you see such an amazing show. Seriously had such an amazing ti...

It's Miller Time! Go Tigers!

Once again we decided to purchase season tickets for the Tigers.  We get the Friday package which includes all Friday games and usually one during the week.  With our (kids') schedule, we are busy Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and yes... even Sunday.  Memorial Weekend brought a break in sports and allowed Jeff and I an opportunity to go to a game.  My mom was able to watch the kids and we met up with our friends (the Millers) for a game.  We love going with them because not only do we have that bond that people who have lost children automatically have (I met them through HUGS), but they are AWESOME baseball fans!  I can't believe we've been friends for almost 10 years!  We met up at Hockey Town before the game and had a great time catching up over dinner and drinks.  I love that Kenny and Jeff get along so well too. We had so much fun at dinner that we didn't leave until after the second inning (don't wo...

It's Miller Time! (as in Kenny & Sarah)

Sarah and Me taking our self portrait! (We have many of these!) I love my children, but I will be the first to admit that a night out without them with Jeff and my friends was the best thing ever!  We met our friends (the Millers) at Hockey Town and grabbed a bite to eat (and some drinks) before making our way to the CoPa to watch the Tigers play.  I love the Millers!!  Like us, they have an angel and there is something about that that binds you.  We had a great time at dinner and though I had two drinks, this (usual non-drinker... or at least one drink) girl was feeling those two drinks before we even made it to our seats! The game was AWESOME!  Some people were sitting in our regular seats so we went a few seats down (no biggie).  I ended up sitting next to Sarah and two men that I met (one in his late 60s, the other in his early 70s).  I loved these guys!!  We talked the entire game!  I learned all about them... their families......

Tigers, Coolers and a Dog

This is the second year that Jeff and I have purchased Tiger's Season Tickets. We do miss a lot of games during the season but because we sell Opening Day and a few others along the way, it ends up OK. In the summer, often times it is him and a Big or me and a Big going to the game but we rarely get to go together. Our only babysitters at the moment are family (I can't imagine what it costs now-a-days to get a sitter for four) so for Jeff and I both to go to a game is a real treat! The Tigers were giving out free coolers to the first 7,500 people at the game so we were anxious to get going. Though my mom was the one who said she would watch the kids, my dad came over early (under the condition that one of the coolers we get become his). It was an easy deal and we were on our way. The Tigers haven't been doing so well, so my brother and dad said they wanted us to try to sell their tickets and we knew the perfect people to come with us! I met Sarah and Kenny over 7 years...
