Bayshore! It's Ali's Turn!!

Image
Ali started running again and I suggested she do Bayshore and she was all in! She's been running pretty much daily and I knew a 10K would be easy for her. To be honest, I think she could have done the half but she hasn't raced since high school and since she hasn't been running again all that long, she felt most comfortable doing 6.2 miles. The weather was overcast but PERFECT for running- except then it started to rain. It was a spitty rain but steady. Jeff, Sean and I were able to go near a hill and were able to spy her. It was clear some people didn't know how this works because there were people walking near the front which is a no-no. When we spied Ali (and other runners) they were trying to get around them. Because of this Ali's first mile was WAY slower than her 7:45 min/mile goal. It was like over 10 minutes. She had this app though that I was able to get so I could track her and send her encouraging words. Here second mile was 7:42 so I knew she had gotten ...

Bayshore 2022! DANG JOE!!!

Memorial Day has equaled the Bayshore 10k for us lately and it was great to be back at it! Personally I was NOT looking so forward to running because I'm still dealing with the nonsense of covid! I ran better than I thought- gave myself permission to walk and just listen to my body. Imagine my SHOCK when the leaders started coming back and I saw JOEY IN THE TOP TEN!!!! I couldn't believe it and that definitely fueled me some!! At that point I was texting and running but I didn't care. I was SO excited for our boy! Joey ended up finishing SEVENTH OVERALL!!! And this is a big race! It's a BQ for the marathoners and those wanting to do the olympics too! As I posted out- Joe came in 7th (I did not!)  You can see video I took of Joe on the course and video Jeff got at the finish HERE ! Below are just some fun photos to remember this AWESOME day!!

Bayshore (except not really)

Well, we were supposed to run but no races are allowed because of dumb covid. We still decided to head north to Elk Rapids and it was so nice to get away. We did some running there but what I really liked was just being together and getting away! It is the best place to run! Joey played on the beach and I took a video of one of his songs (Fake Plastic Trees) and posted it HERE . My little fishies got in the pool! I thought it was cold!! We did actually find an outdoor place to eat. It was fun and yummy! We even made friends and had a sing-along at the bonfire!

A couple pictures...

So Bayshore took some pictures and I just got them so here are what Joey and I look like when we're actually running. That picture of Joey was right at the end. I actually have a lot of picture of him running since I'm the one that takes them. I've never seen what I look like when I run though. Also- I finally got some new glasses (a good way to keep track of how long I've had them is slapping a pic on the blog).

Bayshore Time!!

Last year I ran the Bayshore half marathon and I wasn't about to sign up for another half but a 10K is my distance and I talked Joe into running it too so we all piled in the car and headed north to the Elk (since the race is in Traverse City). Joey drove for more than an hour of our drive so that was good too! The morning of the race was rainy! When I mean rainy, I mean it was a steady downpour and when we woke, the tires of the car were underwater so Jeff had to roll up his pants, take off his shoes and pull the car around so Joe and I didn't get soaked. Oddly enough the second we stepped out of the car, the rain stopped! TOTALLY! We had a great race with no rain at all despite the predictions! I have to say that a 10K was MUCH easier than a half- I didn't puke and I wasn't at all worried about it. Joey and I were treating this as a "Fun Run" I guess. I did ask him if he wanted to run with me (I decided to go with the 9 minutes wave people- abou...
