Halloween Party Time

We had fun at the Geary's Halloween Party (didn't get a pic of all of us- well Gearys weren't in it). The rest of us went for a Potter Theme. I was Luna Lovegood and got my costume (minus the wig) for $5! Jeff wore my old cleopatra wig and a cape from when he was Darth Vadar. I love Salvation Army and cheap costumes! To try to keep up my my talented foodie friends, we made some edible treats... Used Q-tips (marshmallows and caramel) for the kid and grown up parties and donut monsters (which started to fall apart) for the kid party. The kiddos went to Cosmans where they had a blast and made THIS awesome movie trailer (they're so creative!!) The grown-ups had a blast (as we always do). I'd say the majority of our night was spent at the euchre table where Eric and I remained undefeated against anyone who challenged us! It was amazing!!! I laughed because one guy asked me if my hair was real (and he was sadly serious... and perhaps over-served a bit). L...

School Halloween Parties!

So I'm not usually a fan of Halloween School Parties (mostly because they leave me EXHAUSTED), but they are always fun.  Our staff dressed as Minions this year and it was a blast dressing alike!  I'm hoping this will turn into a tradition like our family costumes have.  I wasn't wild about spending additional $$ on another costume, but it was fun and some parts I will wear again.  I'm sure the hat will get use from some of my kids too! As always, I missed MY kids school parties, but my wonderful folks went and of course Nana had her camera in hand ready to snap pics!  Unfortunately the weather was horrible (again) so both the parades at my school and the kids' were indoors.  I suppose this is OK as sometimes Halloween here can be cold. At least there were no coats covering up costumes!  I spray painted the kids hair before school (Joe's black, Ali's kind of brown and Z's orange).  I was steaming Joe's shirt and it was hanging o...

It's not a good sign when all day they are predicting rain and not just predicting it, but saying that there is a 100% chance of rain!  Sadly they were right~ so all school parades were inside too.  I was too busy at my own school parade and party (I went as a crayon box) to get to the kids' parties.  My wonderful mother went in my place though and took some pictures for me!!!  She also passed out candy so that Jeff and I could both go trick-or-treating with the kids! Love you, Mom!! Z at the Parade Ali with one of her BFFs Joe Cool- Don't make eye-contact! Z's Class Al and her 3rd Grade Teacher At his party (always Joe Cool) And I just LOVE this... and so did my mom since she snapped the picture!

Halloween Party Time!

Today was the BEST HALLOWEEN EVER!  Since my classroom Halloween Party was last Friday, I actually got to go to MY kids' parties... (something as a teacher I never get to do).  I came home. Sat. Sat some more~ and had lunch in my quiet house and that in itself was heaven. Life has been so busy this season, but I did manage to do some fun things (that I haven't yet mentioned) with the kids this Halloween season.  I added a picture above of how I displayed some of the art stuff we did this season (ghost feet paintings and spider hand paintings).  We also made light up ghosts (milk cartons & glow-sticks) and monster eyes (toilet paper rolls with eyes cut out of them and glow sticks stuck in them to hide in the bushes).  I was also feeling crafty so put some pineapple, mandarin oranges and cool whip in some old glasses I got from my Auntie for some 'candy corn' dessert.  Just having that hour off (from ALL kids) was wonderful!  Of course, going...
