WMU Night in the D

Image
So for the last couple years we've been going to the WMU Night in the D for the fun and of course the cool hats! Jeffy and I met at WMU and of course Danny went there too! We met at the Drapals house and took an Uber (our first!!!) into the D. The Tigers aren't so great so after getting our hat, we were able to go to our old season tix section (didn't go to our seats but we were close) and took in some of the game. I do miss being a season ticket holder sometimes- I loved getting the $2 peanuts (from the church) with my dad and our $1 scorecard which makes watching the game so much more fun! Memories. After the game, we had fun walking around the D and grabbing some drinks. We had to get our Bells (since the Brewery is in K-Zoo). It was  such a fun night. We ended up at Coney (ewwww- I didn't eat it) because that's what Danny wanted. It is a cool place to people watch. Can't wait to get our hats next year!

Tigers Game with the Canadians!

YAY!!! My cousin and her family are in town! "Reunited and it feels so good..." keeps playing through my head. I have been so bad at taking pictures but I did manage a few (and I mean this is it) of a trip we took to the D to catch a Tiger's game. It was Nicole, Russ, Dan, Steph, Jeff and I. We parked at an old Detroit Opera House or something. I can't believe they turned the building into a parking garage. We've parked here before but this is the first time I thought to snap some pictures. That's about all I took though- after this we met Russ's friends for dinner and drinks but the service was so slow we just got drinks and ate at the park. After the game, we explored the D but I forgot my ID so couldn't get into the bars (didn't get carded at the first place). We met some really neat guys outside one of the bars we went to- it was a nice night so they were all sitting outside. Detroit is a fun city- even more fun when you're wit...

WMU Night at the CoPa

I do miss Tiger's games but they aren't doing so well and I do not miss the stress of missing games and trying to sell season tickets. It was again WMU night in the D so Jeffy, Danny and I were on our way to score these cool hats, have a beer and maybe watch a little ball. We got there a little later than we wanted which meant we didn't eat prior to the game. We needed to get our hats (funny story- the WMU kid who took our picture- the first I posted) was a current student. I told him I graduated in '98 and he laughed and told me "That's when I was born!" We DID get carded when we grabbed some grub. It was raining so we hit a place in the stadium to eat. It was SUPER expensive but since we no longer have season tix, we figured it was really a bargain. I enjoyed my WMU Bell's Oberon (of course) with my favorite Bronco guys! After we were done eating,  we walked around the stadium a bit. Our seats were very close to where our season tickets w...

Playing Hooky with Papa

Image
Clearly as teachers we are not in the habit of skipping school but sometimes making memories with your Papa is a good excuse to miss a day of lessons. Papa got the Littles out of school and then they headed to TZ's school to get him and then they were off to the D to have some cousin/Papa fun! They of course started at Coach's Corner for some yummy food and were off to the game. Papa sent me pictures of them in various parts of the stadium so clearly they were checking out seats from all over (that's a kind of bonus I guess when your team isn't doing too well). They had a blast! The highlight for Sean was getting the slushies.  He and Z had cherry and TZ had Coke and cherry "Not two different drinks mom, just one with both of them mixed together. That would have been too much slushies." Thanks bud! And thanks Dad for being the best Papa out there!

Date Night in the D

So the Tigers haven't had the best season and although I had been to only one other game this season, this was the first time I actually WATCHED the game. Jeff and I decided we wanted to spend our money right and so we hit McDonalds on the way down (less than $10) so we could buy REAL beer at the game (much more than $10). I'd say it was worth it and my Oberon was delish! There weren't many at the game which was somewhat surprising since it was MSU night (we LOVED our hats we got for WMU night). There also weren't any season ticket holders around us. Kind of sad, though I loved being in our old seats. I didn't get the peanuts but of course did get the scorecard (and look at my cute Detroit flops I found in my basement). I lost my pencil which was a major bummer. Jeff went and found me a pen though so all was still well in the universe. While there, I made friends with the guy sitting behind me. We were chatting and somehow it came up that he wanted me...

Bronco Night at CoPa!

Image
We had a fun night at CoPa for WMU night! Though the Tigers were playing, I admit that I was there for the hat and the beer. I don't think I watched any of the game. Our tickets were not my dad's and we were in the very last seats. After the game, we went and got pizza and cheese bread with Dan, Steph and some of their WLC/ WMU friends. It was a fun night and Go Broncos!! (Wish I could say that for the Tigers but they haven't had the best season...)

Our Date Night in the D

Just because I took some pictures of ourselves... And no~ I don't wear make-up or do my hair in the summer.  Lucky to have a guy who loves me no matter what I look like! Go Tigers! It was another great game!

Daddy Daughter Date

So I gave my dad some grief. Jeff and I are no longer season ticket holders but my dad still has two seats. It seems whenever he needs someone to go to a game he asks Jeff or my brother. I was excited when he asked ME to go with him. We had dinner at Coach's Corner where I tried the WORST drink ever (that cherry cola thing) and then we were off to the game for our $2 peanuts, $1 scorecard and (I won't tell you the cost) two REAL beers. We had a GREAT time. The Tigers played GREAT and bonus, I FINALLY got to see some fireworks (since I missed them on the fourth). We had so much fun that I think he may just ask me again one day... Right Papa? :-)

Doran Date in the D!

My dad gave us tickets to the Tigers Game and boy was it fun!! I don't know the last time the six of us went together to a game (guess I should check the blog). Sean was the one we weren't sure would make it (attention span) but even he had fun.  Of course Sean didn't pay attention to the game at times.  He was taking "selfies" and pretending to sell peanuts to people. It was kind of a rip-off... he sold his peanuts for $20 when we bought them outside the stadium for $2. It was quite the mark-up but he was cute! Poor kid wore big shorts that kept falling down. We all had a good laugh (including Sean) and a good time. The Tigers played well and of course my girl kept score like her Papa taught her.  I really am blessed to have these amazing people in my life!!

Date Night at the CoPa!

After visiting with the newest little Gerken, I headed home and changed into my Tiger gear and Jeff and I were off to the game.  It isn't often that we have a night with nothing going on so we jumped on the chance to take in a game! Since I spent time with Hugh Todd (wouldn't change that for the world) we didn't have time to do dinner so just ate in the park (my dinner was a yummy pretzel and of course our peanuts that we buy every game from the church). We also had a couple (expensive) beers and of course the $1 scorecard. The Tigers haven't been playing very well but we still had a blast just being together with just the two of us. The weather was perfect for an evening game! Thanks dad for the tickets and the free babysitting! ;-)
