Camp Time!

Image
After a long day (field day) it was time to set up "camp" for our last full week of school. I didn't even ask my mom to come help since it was her birthday, but she came anyway. I don't know what I'd do without her! It didn't take long to set up (only a couple hours) since I saved the trees and everything else. When we were done, we were able to head to TZ's game and a dinner and drink with Nana, Papa and the Drapals! Happy Birthday, Nana!!! And HERE is a video of "camp" if you want to see it once the vines were added!

A couple pictures...

So Bayshore took some pictures and I just got them so here are what Joey and I look like when we're actually running. That picture of Joey was right at the end. I actually have a lot of picture of him running since I'm the one that takes them. I've never seen what I look like when I run though. Also- I finally got some new glasses (a good way to keep track of how long I've had them is slapping a pic on the blog).

Memorial Day Dock Start

Image
After the Memorial Day Parade, we headed to the lake to work on the docks and boats. Got a good start but didn't finish. Danny had stuff going on so it was just us and the kids... Well other than Joey, they were a bit busy to help (not sure why I didn't snap a picture of the Seany).

Memorial Day Parade!

Image
Joey joined the band in playing in the Memorial Day parade! I got Al to come with me. We actually sat right next to one of my elementary school friends (Mark Sutter). So crazy to run into someone you know amidst so many people. I did hear some "Mrs. Doran" calls... I didn't get any pics of Joey so we had him recreate this. WLN marched with WLC and WLW which was cool! I am not a big parade person but it wasn't too bad! I think the last time we went to a parade was when the Bigs were really little! Time flies!

Bayshore Time!!

Image
Last year I ran the Bayshore half marathon and I wasn't about to sign up for another half but a 10K is my distance and I talked Joe into running it too so we all piled in the car and headed north to the Elk (since the race is in Traverse City). Joey drove for more than an hour of our drive so that was good too! The morning of the race was rainy! When I mean rainy, I mean it was a steady downpour and when we woke, the tires of the car were underwater so Jeff had to roll up his pants, take off his shoes and pull the car around so Joe and I didn't get soaked. Oddly enough the second we stepped out of the car, the rain stopped! TOTALLY! We had a great race with no rain at all despite the predictions! I have to say that a 10K was MUCH easier than a half- I didn't puke and I wasn't at all worried about it. Joey and I were treating this as a "Fun Run" I guess. I did ask him if he wanted to run with me (I decided to go with the 9 minutes wave people- abou...

Joey Concert!

Image
So Joey's concert was the same day as my Variety Show performance. It was stressful. I asked Joe's teacher (my friend) when Joey's band started and his band was second!!  She told me she would taaaaaaalk veerrrrrryyy slooooowww. Well- I RAN from my class act to my car- drove not crazy fasts but fast- and ran from my car to the auditorium (see... it pays to run every day) and I made it! I was sweating but I made it!  I couldn't take video because the music was  copyrighted and I'm a rule follower. Jeff wasn't able to make it because he had a "Learning Fair" at school (sigh~ there should be NO extra stuff in May- it should be against the law). Thankfully Nana and Papa were be able to pick up the kids and we all got to hear a great performance (take my word on it). Great job, Joe Cool! You rock!! Sean knows this is the season of crazy for us Dorans!!

Variety Show Time!

Image
I'm a SUPER crazy creature of habit. I do the Variety Show each year with my class but do the EXACT. SAME. THING. each year. I figure it's new to them... This is the song that we start our day to and I use for clean up from "free choice. It's cute though and I love it so just keep doing it. Our "teacher act" I missed out on a little. I was able to do the evening show for my class only because we were the first to go on and then I had to run to Joey's concert (hence I missed the teacher act). I did do it during our school performance (which you can see my class act HERE - and yes we dance that every day and you can see the teacher act HERE ). Kevin wasn't there during the evening show either- someone else had his "head." So fun being a Looney!

WHY MARTY???

Image
I've pretty much instructed Joe that when he leaves for school to LEAVE. HIS. DOOR. OPEN. Sadly, Joey isn't the best at following directions! I'll be coming up from my run and hear barking from his room and THIS is what I see... For some reason, Marty likes Joey's room but forgets he doesn't have thumbs and can't open the door to get out! (sigh) Too bad you can't teach an old dog new tricks!
