Reunited (with Pam)

Image
I honestly don't know the last time we were together or really talked much, but when Pam told me she was coming to town I knew that I would clear my scheduled and MAKE IT HAPPEN!  We were childhood friends growing up and she was even the maid-of-honor at my wedding but life happened. She moved to NC and I just didn't see or hear from her much~ but thankfully in recent weeks that had changed! I couldn't wait to see her and there was only one problem... I GOT SICK! I got that same thing Joey had and I felt miserable but I didn't want to give it to Pam! Still I didn't want to miss the opportunity to see her! So we made a plan... We would sit in our cars and talk and catch up so we could 'see' each other but I wouldn't get her sick. We found the perfect park in Clarkston and since the weather was nice we sat outside near a stream and just talked and talked and talked (for HOURS!) The only hard thing was not being able to hug her. We decided though that meeti...

High School Reunion (of sorts)

Image
Kim, Nev, Angie, Pam & Me Al with Kim's daughter (fast friends) It had been two years since I last saw my childhood (best) friend, Pam, and almost as long since we'd spoken (sadly she's not a phone gal).  So when she sent me a message that she was going to be in town and would love to set up a reunion (albeit short), I was EXCITED! Pam sent out a message to some of our favorite girls and we headed to (where else?) the lake where we had spent so many of our summer days! Going on an adventure! My darling friend Nevada got there first (as I assumed she would after talking to her that morning).  Sadly her son was at camp so missed playing with all the kids, but soon Pam was there and then the rest of our old friends started showing up one by one in their minivans loaded with car seats! And not all the kids are in this picture...  It was crazy to see all those kids but it felt so good to just sit and chat with old friends (some of whom I hadn't talked...

My Surprise Dinner Date!

Image
This has been a wonderful summer for reuniting with old friends from high school. I've seen friends who are now living in Canada, Washington, Oregon, Arizona and China. I've also seen some 'locals' I don't see often because of an impromptu 'girls reunion' put together via facebook . My friend Kim contacted me and asked me if I could go to dinner last night with our friend Nevada (who I still talk with). I said sure, but wondered why Nevada hadn't mentioned it to me. I didn't think too much of it though, since Nev has been in the middle of a move and has also been out of town a lot on mini-(much needed) vacays . I figured she was just busy and it had slipped her mind. I picked up Nevada since she was on the way and I wanted to see her new house. I was running late because I had to feed Sean before I left. (Jeff took the kids to the zoo so it was just easier that way) and felt badly thinking that poor Kim was going to be waiting at the restaurant by h...

My Surprise Play-Date

Image
The most amazing thing happened to me last Friday. My sweet friend, (of 32 years!) Pam, had asked me earlier in the week if I'd be around Friday morning around 9 to be able to chat. She moved states away and it had been hard for us to have some good conversations with our busy schedules (and loud children)- so to 'plan' a phone call was very 'typical' Pam. Pam and I have remained close over the years and she is Jonasen's God-Mother and writes him sweet letters each year for his birthday documenting the happenings. She is just really an amazing soul! (She also turned me on to the world of blogging...) Shortly before she was scheduled to call at 9, Jeff suggested I get in the shower since we had a busy day- and he knew how long the two of us talked- so I got ready for the day- and he brought me the phone and sure enough I got to hear my sweet friend's voice at 9. She told me she was on her way with her darling son, Jack, to a play date . She was a bit out o...

A Visit from Joe's Fairy Godmother

Image
It was last-minute, and shorter than we would have liked, but I was over the moon when I learned that my very best childhood friend, Pam, was coming for a quick visit all the way from Atlanta. It was great to see her and her son, Jack, who (although I think he looks so much older than Zachy) is only about a month older than Zach. It is so amazing that we have boys that are so close in age. I only wish that we lived closer so they could become fast friends! Pam is also Jonasen's Godmother and while I did get a picture of just he and Pam, I had to snap one with Ali Jane too. Though she sees her Godmother (Jodi) all the time, she wanted to get in the picture too. It was great having all the kids together and Sheila (Pam's sister) was there too. Luckily my parents' power came back (literally) for a few hours so we could have some light before Pam and Sheila made their way to Snover where the Marz's now live. Miss you Pammy! So great to spend time with you!
