First Day of School!

Image
Joe (11th), Ali (10th), Zach (8th), Sean (5th) The First Day of school was a bit different this year... Someone shared this yesterday and I could definitely relate. I was a nervous wreck for the first day. I usually am but this was a whole different level. Thankfully I had done a lot of prep work, instructional videos for parents, etc. Shockingly it went WAY better than I thought it would! My Sensational Second Graders! The kids also all had a good first day! We found out where we could all be. I was close-ish to Sean since he may need some assistance but everyone else found their space too and it went well.  I had some really nice texts and emails from parents thanking me for a great first day and I appreciated that they were able to see our efforts. Nevertheless, I was VERY ready for a drink after work... or a BOTTLE! (Don't worry... I'm kidding) After dinner, Ali and I went on a nice evening walk. I really treasure our walk and talk times. It's going to be a great year...

She passed!!

Oh happy day!!! Ali passed! They often talked about how he wore his mask (nose exposed). She and Sarah often talked about their instructor. They had some pretty funny stories. On her last drive, he asked me if I'd like to go with them! I did and all those crazy, funny stories made total sense! With Covid of course there aren't a lot of places to go but we're going to just have to carve out drive times to get those hours! I felt pretty good with Ali behind the wheel. I think Joe broke me in.

Here we go...

Well, because Covid is still insane it was determined that we would do school remotely (at least for now). While I am VERY thankful for this for all our health, I've also been exhausted getting ready and trying to figure out how the heck I'm going to do this. Last year was a bit off- but this year is all in- new curriculum and I'm going to have to get creative! Thankfully I had a lot of trials with other "students" joining my zooms. I also experimented with my doc camera... I did get it to work and they saw it how I wanted them to. Still, this is a bit insane and nerve-wracking. I feel like we didn't get a whole lot of training and just thank God that I am pretty tech savvy. I am bound and determined to make this work! Just like Sean (in the first picture), we had a "Meet and Beep" where kids drove through the parking lot and got to see us in person and we got to see them! I saw so many kids old and new and it really was food for my soul. I missed th...

I did it!!

Guess who got up on skis on her first try and made it all the way around the lake and didn't die? THIS GIRL!!

Driver's Training! Wooo hooo!

Image
So Driver's Training has not been the easiest due to Covid. We couldn't get into where Joe had his sessions because they were so backed up. Ali is started way later than she'd like but we already have an appointment with Secretary of State for her permit AND license on her birthday. She's super on top of things so I have no doubt that she'll get it done. I think she felt a bit better going with her twin!

Well, I didn't totally ruin Zach's hair so I took on Sean's. It grows back anyway. ;-)
