Marching Band

After just a couple days of school we had our first home football game which for us means... MARCHING BAND!! I love watching them and I love it even more now that I have two kiddos to watch! Ali is having fun but still a bit on the fence I think. The pit is a bit separated from the rest of the marchers and I know many of her friends march. She did a great job though.  Joe is still in his happy place when it comes to the band. His best friends (for the most part) all play and they have so much fun together. I think it's going to be another great season!!

Away Band Camp

When it came to going away for band camp there were two very different- but strong- reactions. Joey was PUMPED!! Ali- a little reluctant~ a little concerned she forgot something. I had Jeff drop them off for the buses because she tends to have a tougher time separating from mama!  The thing is she didn't really HAVE to separate from me for too long because I volunteered to help out. I was up there 3 days to chaperone and walk the grounds to make sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to do- or as I call it... "Break up love in the woods." Jeff told me that everyone was going to hate me. I really TRIED to do my job well but on the first day it POURED and no one was in the woods (but me and Naomi). I struck out other times too but I sure got my steps in! After running 4-5 miles and walking Marty- walking at band camp had me over 20,000 and even 30,000 steps! It was insane!  Me being there made things a bit easier for my kids- at least ONE kid. Like I...

Home Band Camp

So exciting!!! Home Band Camp has begun! This year I am able to volunteer a bit and it's been fun meeting new people. I wasn't actually ever outside though (I helped out my friend Jessica- volunteer extraordinaire). I helped with uniforms and got to fit Joe with his and... he grew! YAYA!!! This is all VERY new to Ali! She is playing in the pit which is nothing like playing the viola! The attitude for this year is try everything once and see if you like it. She's still not sure but so far is doing pretty well with learning the new instrument and meeting new people. I guess both Doran kids were recognized for their great marching skillz! I love that there are volunteers to take pictures of kids- I found this one on the site of Ali and her friends. There was also this pic of Joey with his friends! I think they all look happy! Joey LOVES marching band! He loves the family feel and can't stop talking about it. That's good because I'm loving marching...
