Days with the Dorans

  If you would have told me that Zach's high school orientation would be on a computer and not in a building I would have thought you were crazy- but here we are... Zach and I zoomed into his High School Orientation. I'm hoping that soon life will get back to normal but until then, this is how it looked...

It's hard to believe that Joey is starting his second year of high school already! He had to register early and then ran (literally) to XC practice. When I picked him up after, we found his locker to drop off his books and things. Joe had such a great freshman year. I can't wait to see what this year brings! He forgot his XC clothes so we had dad run some up and he pulled clothes from Joey's room from a LOONG time ago- that shirt was from a race when he was in elementary school (it WAS big then...). Next it was Ali's turn and I can't believe she's off to high school too! I know she's going to be great! She was a bit worried since they don't get their schedules right away and the set up of the building is confusing (though Joey swears it isn't...). We did find her locker and drop off her things. My kids just LOVE when I take pictures of them...

 It's hard to believe it's already time for Ali to head to HS- but she's so uber responsible and on top of things it felt oddly natural! It was just my girl and me who went (Jeff stayed home with the boys- I'm late in updating and honestly can't remember the circumstances). After the "welcome" we headed to the orchestra room (which was given by the band director), then to the French room, and finally to the drama/acting room (you could pick 3 places to visit)! She was so excited about the drama stuff. It seems like Al will be very much following in her big brother's footsteps. We checked out marching band (where Al is thinking she'll try out for the pit) and XC (she's thinking about it). After that we left~ when we got home I was thinking that we should have stopped at the soccer table, maybe tennis, maybe some other clubs... Time will tell what this girl has in her future. I am excited to see what she chooses to do! Her future is bri...

 I still can't believe our baby will be going to high school next year. We had a parent/student night where we learned about the school, registering and more. Joe will be part of the largest class to go through WLN at 470! Still, we left feeling really good about this newest adventure. After the large presentation in the auditorium, we went to learn more about band (since we know for sure that will be one of Joe's electives) and choir (since he's recently started doing that and... well... it was next to the band room). I have fond memories from high school and it's exciting to see Joe looking ahead to a great future! So proud of this kid. I don't know if WE'RE ready, but he is. He actually said he was excited- and Joe Cool doesn't usually say that... about anything! YAY!!
