Days with the Dorans

 I still can't believe that Sean is going to kindergarten next year but Kindergarten Round-Up sure brought that into my reality!  He was really excited to go.  We had one of his favorite books (he's super into the Ricky Ricotta- Mighty Robot series) which was a good thing because the bus was 20 minutes late and Sean didn't want to play Duck-Duck-Goose with the other waiting kids and principal.  I think he was more comfortable sitting on my lap and reading while stealing glances at what they were doing. Kindergarten Round-Up is very different now than from when I went with the Bigs. We were silent silly... at least for the picture!  On Wednesday, I told Z that he was going to be able to check out kindergarten and ride the bus, something that he had been looking forward to for a L-O-N-G time.  I was surprised though when he started to look a little sad and told me he'd miss our drives to school, his teacher at preschool and his days with Nana and Papa.  I shouldn't have been too surprised since he is my dramatic one and tends to go to the extremes- whether silly, happy, sad or angry.  Just one of the many reasons I love him "more". It amazes me that I am sitting at a computer typing. As all days of late, today was jam-packed! Jeff had parent teacher conferences until late in the evening. I picked up the middles and dinner and rushed home. (My dad was with Joe and Sean) I got home at about 5 and everyone ate while I nursed Sean, changed diapers and got everyone back in the car for T-ball practice (at 5:30) Thankfully my dad missed his Tiger game to watch the boys after practice because tonight was a very important day for Ali Jane... I still can't believe that our baby will go to kindergarten in the fall! I had hoped that I would be able to take him to my school (to make my mornings easier) but 'twas not to be. I am actually very happy now that he will be attending our neighborhood school. He was so excited about kindergarten round up. The highlight was certainly riding the bus (as you can see from the picture below) and he was very excited to meet Uncle Dan's old Kindergarten teacher. (Yes, she is STILL teaching- God Bless Her!) I can't imagine teaching that long- I'll have enjoyed many a round of golf by then... during the school day... far away from the politics of education! (Sure-I'll miss the kids for sure!- but golf is good!)
