Z's First Field Day (and a bit of Al too...)

It's that time of year again... Field Trips, Parties, Field Day~ All those things that I CAN'T go to because I'm a teacher (big sigh).   Again, I am so very grateful that my folks went over to check out Field Day. I had mentioned it to my mom briefly and was shocked that she said of course they would be going!  One~ because Field Day can be a lot of standing around and craziness and Two~ because they were leaving for the condo up north that day. The way the kids' school does Field Day is that they have lower-ele participate in the morning and upper-ele in the afternoon.  I can't imagine trying to accomplish anything academic on Field Day... the kids are so excited!  My school has their's all day long, which I love! So on this post I have pictures of the Middles, but none of Joe (since he was in the afternoon).  He reported he had a great time though... What kid DOESN'T like Field Day? My mom took these pictures!  She said that Zach did a G...

Ali Jane has a Field Day!

Yesterday the Bigs had Field Day at their school. Jeff and I of course couldn't be there because we are teachers and it is May. There is no crazier month than May when you are a teacher and if there weren't a June, I think that most teaching careers would end in May. Thankfully my parents are retired and though I told my mom not to go and take pictures for me (My Nan had a second heart attack earlier in the week and a MAJOR memory issue that morning). She told me that Nan was doing better at noon and this was ( afterall ) Ali Jane's first Field Day and I NEEDED pictures to document it! She spent some time with Joe- but after doing this once already, he was an old pro. My mom was excited that Ali Jane acknowledged her. Ali Jane has a few personalities... Ila (who I have mentioned in the past is horrible) sweet Ali Jane, and painfully shy Ali Jane who will not make eye contact with someone and hides behind (usually) my leg (grrrrrr). Sweet Ali Jane was at Field Day an...

Field Day

One of the hardest things about being a working mom is that I cannot always make fun functions at the kids' schools. This year was especially hard because I had absolutely no days to take off because of the birth of Sean. Thankfully (like with the Mother's Day tea) my mom saved the day. She was able to go up to Joe's school and snap some pictures of him in action on his first Field Day. Field Day is one of the best days of the year for kids. (I know this because I am a teacher.) It's a time to get outside, play games and have fun with all your friends. It's obvious from the look on Joe's face that it was a great day for him too. My mom said it was fun to watch him with all of his little buddies. The only problem was my dad didn't go so my mom also had to bring Sean. Sean was NOT as excited about Field Day as Joe. It didn't help that he was a little 'off schedule' due to waking up an hour earlier than usual that day- or that it has been EXTREMEML...
