Day 2: Easter, Ball & Beer!

One of the best things about this vacation is that for some reason, when our kids get up in the morning they run up to my folks' room instead of ours!  Even so, Jeff and I woke from all the pitter patter (or perhaps I should say, jumps and thumps) of them running upstairs to their Nana & Papa's room!  The Easter Bunny came and left trails of (the appropriate color) Easter grass from each kid to their baskets.
I was glad that the Easter Bunny didn't go too crazy with the treats!  Each kiddo got a Skylander (an action figure/ video game that they really like), a card game and a little bit of candy.  They did have to find stashed eggs around the place of course too!  My hope was for the day to be more about the REAL reason we celebrate.
After breakfast, we were off to church.  Sadly I didn't get any pictures of us in our Sunday best!! (EHHH!!)  The boys were dressed in khaki's and whites, Al had on a pink dress and I had my new $20 long blue dress that actually matched what Jeff was wearing.  We went to a Baptist church (contemporary service).  Sadly, the music wasn't great and since that is a huge part of the worship experience for us, it was a bummer.  Sean did great and made it through 3/4 of the sermon (which was great for him) before he laid down and said (rather loudly), "I want to go home!"  Jeff took him out immediately and we could hear him as Jeff took him out the building and to the car (the boy has some lungs... wonder where he gets that from...).
When we got home we changed out of our Sunday best and headed to some flat land (a parking lot near us) to play some ball.  The kids both looked GREAT! Joe has improved so much since last year and Ali tried out pitching but we're thinking she may follow her mama's footsteps at second base!  She had some great pitches but then a lot of not so great pitches...
At one point Ali missed a ball that went rolling down a steep hill/road.  She dashed down the hill (scaring me to death) chasing after the ball!  She thought she had lost it and was nearly in tears, but she did finally find it!  We had a good walk/talk back to our place (since it was just the two of us at the bottom of the hill) and we spotted a lot of dandelions on the way which had us thinking (and missing) Morty and of course the First-Borns.
For dinner, we decided to hit a Brewery downtown.  We were told we had a half hour wait and so the Big boys stayed back while the rest of us took a little walk.  We found a bridge over a river that Seany was petrified of... I eventually got him to walk out on it.  I think he may be still scared of his ocean experience from last year!
Only about 15 minutes went by when we heard our phones ring and learned that the boys got a table.  We had some yummy food and beer but the BEST part of the night was that I GOT CARDED!!  Jeff did not (which made me feel even better).  Perhaps the waiter knew that asking a mom surrounded by her kids for her ID would help him get a better tip (he was one smart guy!).  Either way it turned out to be a great Easter!
