Now that we are both teachers, it is nice to know that our birthdays (Jeff's and mine) will always feel like they are on a weekend (Jeff's being in the summer and mine being on Christmas Eve). I am NOT a morning person nor am I a cook but because I love my husband, I woke up early to make blueberry and vanilla pancakes for him and the troops. I think the kids were all shocked that I could cook and that they were so yummy! The kids all made great cards and Joe decorated the place with signs and crowns for everyone (though they mostly just fit the dogs who weren't too thrilled to be wearing them).
Jeff got to open his gift early since he needed to use it. I got him the Cadillac of coffee makers. It was quite pricey but it was something he really wanted and since I am the cleaner (he is the cook), I will appreciate this baby because there is nothing to clean! No pots- filters or anything. The bonus is it also brews loose teas (so I get to use it too... I'm NOT a coffee drinker!). Jeff's mom has a smaller version of this maker but I found this at Costco and got $30 off what it was selling for at some of the other stores. He was very excited about his present!
The other present was we got to go on a date!!! My folks watched the kids so we could go see the final Harry Potter in 3D! We read all the books but since it has been so long we've spent the last week getting caught up on the movies- watching one a night after the kids were in bed. I've never been to an Imax theater before (not a big movie-goer) and it was amazing! The movie was so good and I felt sad that JK is done with the Hogwarts adventures and we have to leave it up to our imagination what will happen to all the wonderful characters she created!
After the movie, we went home and got the kids and my dad (my mom was golfing) and went to our favorite restaurant/brewery. Jeff is part of the "Mug Club" so got a free beer. After dinner, we went and got a cake and made our way home. I was going to make him a Cherry Chip cake but ran out of time (busy) so I may be making him one soon "just because". I added some words to this cake and it was very yummy- though Cherry Chip sounded better to me too.
Getting candles was fun! I decided he should have one for each year. We only had 34 candles though so I added the "2". I was a bit worried that we may burn the house down or at least set off an alarm but we didn't (I shouldn't say anything since in about 4 months we'll be the same age again). He had a great birthday and it's hard to believe sometimes that I have spent his last 15 birthdays by his side! I have a picture of us (on the 'The Story of Us" blog I wrote a while back) celebrating his 22nd birthday. Time really does fly when you're having fun... and we've had a lot of fun over the years!
Love the video. I always love coming here. I want one of those coffee machines. I am not a big coffee drinker but still want one! I'm not a tea drinker either. Mark says we have to wait until our coffe maker breaks. Should I help it along? Great gift!!! How awesome that you got to go to the show. What a fun celebration Jeff had. Happy Birthday Jeff!
It's getting to me... I don't know if it's the sleep deprivation or the crazy schedule of being a full time working mom and having four kids at home... but it's getting to me. I am so tired. Last night I was up at midnight with Sean, then at 2:30 with Joe who was sick and threw up, I got back to bed at 3 and slept for 15 minutes until Sean woke up again. I let him cry for 45 MINUTES until I could take it no more, staggered into his room and nursed him. And then I was up before six to start my day which looks something like this.. Wake up, shower, get ready for work prior to kids waking up... (praying that they don't wake up) then waking the bigs who can dress themselves, and getting Zach changed and dressed, then downstairs to make breakfast for three bigs while putting together pump parts to take to school (that were drying over-night), clean up from breakfast, meds for Zach which now include a breathing treatment (from last Tuesday's doc apt), shoes on a...
Well, we knew this day would come. Prayed that it would be clear and it was. On Sunday night I laid with Cobi as I have (more so in recent weeks). He asked to go outside at one point and he was out longer than usual. I called for him to come inside and he didn't come. I had been cleaning the kitchen and I thought perhaps I had let him inside. My brain isn't the best. I ran upstairs and to all his favorite places, but he was nowhere to be found. I grabbed my shoes, wrapped my arms around me and went out to the cold calling for my baby, in a panic. He came to me slowly from out in the darkness and when we got inside I sat with him, wrapped my arms around him and cried. As promised. He had told me. This was it. Somehow I went to school and made the call. The last appointment of the day was at 5:20pm and since Joey wasn't getting home until 6:00, I took it as a consult and then also booked the first appointment for t...
So some of you know that I have two blogs. This blog- which has reflected on my day to day adventures with my living children, things I love and the occasional "Pause" blog where I remember my angels. My other blog (That I refer to as my 'Pause' blog) has been an entire blog about my angels-a therapy to me in a sense- how they've changed me, restored me and helped me. I have met a huge community of mothers who have lost children and have been nominated by two of them for this Honest Scrap award (for my 'Pause' blog) The idea is similar to the last 'award' I wrote about, my new friends stated in their blogs that: The award is about bloggers who post from their heart, who write from the depths of their soul. In order to accept the award I must nominate seven fellow bloggers as recipients, and then list ten honest and interesting things about myself. So- although I was nominated on 'Pause'- I'm writing on 'Days' because I have sh...
