Well as mentioned, Z made the Jags Team which is a travel team of sorts. He didn't make the top team closest to us but we were glad he made the cuts for a nearby team. We were hoping that Z would get on a team with some kiddos who really wanted to play and perhaps get the feeling of a 'win' since his previous teams had never won and there were many kiddos that just didn't know what they were doing and I think that frustrated Z sometimes (think Bad News Bears). This new experience has been interesting and to be honest, we aren't impressed. We aren't happy with the coach who sits at all of games and practice scrimmages (instead of getting up like the other coaches do). He just seems real hands-off and not a motivator for the boys. The real sad thing about it is that Z's team still has not experienced a win. The other boys are nice and try hard. Parents "aren't allowed" to talk at games or to the coach (We communicate with the manager- another parent). Poor Goosie. The whole vibe is just yucky.

Sometimes Zach will start and play a lot of the game but other times he's won't. One game he got in 3 lousy minutes of an entire game. And to be clear, other than the tied game (which Z did play a lot) no games have even been close! It's so frustrating! And the games are far... Home games are 40 minutes away! He is now in winter season and has two practices a week and we're wondering if we made a big, expensive, mistake in joining this team and wondering if we should even continue in the spring or just have Z quit after winter and have Jeff take his team. One thing we know is that Z's next team will have better coaching and will be way cheaper! Either way we're really proud of our aggressive little baller and happy that he's learning some things from dad (who is also going to be bringing him to the gym this winter to work on more skills).
Sorry it hasn't all worked out as planned. That is a long way to travel for his games. Hope it all gets worked out because he loves it so much!
