When I first started dating Jeff, his nephew was just four years old. He was the most adorable little boy and it is hard for me to believe that he is now 18 years old! I asked Jeff if it was weird to see his nephew so old, and I think when he sat and thought about it (as I always seem to sit and think of such things) he thought... ya!
I smile thinking about watching Jeff's brother's kids (Abby is pictured with JD) grow up! I remember sitting with them on Christmases past, putting together arts and things and reading them stories. I remember during one Christmas play telling a young JD how well he did and him replying, "Yes. I know..." Like with any children, it can sometimes be hard to keep a straight face and now I watch him with my children and think he probably is having those same feelings sometimes (he is AMAZING with his young cousins!).
J.D.'s party was held in his church's basement which is where their youth group often gathers. To say that it is a cool basement would be an understatement. There is a large TV that is hooked up to the Internet (the kids were using it to play You Tube music), game tables (air hockey, pool, Foosball, ping-pong), an area with tables to eat at and a cool bar set up with a mini kitchen.
There is also an area that has an electricdrum set, guitars, keyboards and microphones. Jeff spied the guitar and I was surprised that he made it as long as he did before he went over and started playing. Mary (Jim and Trish's middle daughter) has a beautiful voice and it was fun to listen to her sing (Mary is pictured above with Sean).
Our kids were the only 'little' kids there. Sadly their other cousins weren't able to make it, but they seemed to be well accepted into the group of teens and grown-ups. They had a blast and learned how to play some fun games and enjoyed the food (Mexican) and yummy (Star Wars) cake.
If this party had a theme, it would be Star Wars. The girls hung posters with Star Wars' quotes all over the walls and later we all gathered to play a Star Wars' trivia game. Ali Jane passed out prizes with Tia Trish and after Mary helped walk her to the first two boys who won prizes, she was able to hand them out all by herself. Our boys even got some of the questions right and Z got three pieces of chocolate!
They ate a ton (including Sean). They were all bummed when it was time to leave, but Jeff and I were looking forward to a quiet drive home... The problem was when we had about 50 minutes left in our drive, Sean threw up... again and again... It was all over his car seat and there seemed to be nothing we could do but just drive home. It was a horrible helpless feeling and it makes me sad now just thinking about it... Thankfully Sean is better as I write this and perhaps he'll think twice about shoveling blue cake into his mouth (but somehow I doubt it). A video from JD's party is posted below and on You Tube should he (hi JD) ever want to see it again! Happy Birthday JD! Thanks for being one amazing young man! I'm so proud of you!
It's getting to me... I don't know if it's the sleep deprivation or the crazy schedule of being a full time working mom and having four kids at home... but it's getting to me. I am so tired. Last night I was up at midnight with Sean, then at 2:30 with Joe who was sick and threw up, I got back to bed at 3 and slept for 15 minutes until Sean woke up again. I let him cry for 45 MINUTES until I could take it no more, staggered into his room and nursed him. And then I was up before six to start my day which looks something like this.. Wake up, shower, get ready for work prior to kids waking up... (praying that they don't wake up) then waking the bigs who can dress themselves, and getting Zach changed and dressed, then downstairs to make breakfast for three bigs while putting together pump parts to take to school (that were drying over-night), clean up from breakfast, meds for Zach which now include a breathing treatment (from last Tuesday's doc apt), shoes on a...
Well, we knew this day would come. Prayed that it would be clear and it was. On Sunday night I laid with Cobi as I have (more so in recent weeks). He asked to go outside at one point and he was out longer than usual. I called for him to come inside and he didn't come. I had been cleaning the kitchen and I thought perhaps I had let him inside. My brain isn't the best. I ran upstairs and to all his favorite places, but he was nowhere to be found. I grabbed my shoes, wrapped my arms around me and went out to the cold calling for my baby, in a panic. He came to me slowly from out in the darkness and when we got inside I sat with him, wrapped my arms around him and cried. As promised. He had told me. This was it. Somehow I went to school and made the call. The last appointment of the day was at 5:20pm and since Joey wasn't getting home until 6:00, I took it as a consult and then also booked the first appointment for t...
So some of you know that I have two blogs. This blog- which has reflected on my day to day adventures with my living children, things I love and the occasional "Pause" blog where I remember my angels. My other blog (That I refer to as my 'Pause' blog) has been an entire blog about my angels-a therapy to me in a sense- how they've changed me, restored me and helped me. I have met a huge community of mothers who have lost children and have been nominated by two of them for this Honest Scrap award (for my 'Pause' blog) The idea is similar to the last 'award' I wrote about, my new friends stated in their blogs that: The award is about bloggers who post from their heart, who write from the depths of their soul. In order to accept the award I must nominate seven fellow bloggers as recipients, and then list ten honest and interesting things about myself. So- although I was nominated on 'Pause'- I'm writing on 'Days' because I have sh...
